Sam Houston State University students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends can see the Houston Astros take on the Chicago Cubs for a discounted rate June 10, during the Alumni Association’s SHSU Night at Minute Maid Park.
The game will begin at 7:05 p.m.
"Last year's SHSU Night at Minute Maid Park brought in over 200 alumni and friends,” director of Alumni Relations Charlie Vienne said. “We anticipate at least that many and more this year so we've moved back inside Minute Maid Park for our reception and dinner.”
Food and beverages will be served at a pre-game reception, held in Champions Pavilion inside the park, beginning at 6 p.m. An open bar will be provided from 6-7, and a cash only bar from 7-8 p.m.
The association will provide chartered transportation to the game departing from Bowers Stadium at 4:15 p.m.
A total trip package including transportation, the reception and game ticket is $60. A game ticket and the reception is $40, and for the reception only is $20.
"This is one of the most well-attended events by SHSU alumni and friends. It is a great time to socialize and connect with university administrators, alumni and friends of the university,” said Vienne.

Houston Chronicle education writer Jeannie Kever recently turned to Regents Professor of English Paul Ruffin for his views on university presses moving toward "digital books" as opposed to traditional ink-on-paper."We're fulfilling the ancient role of the university press, and that is to produce books," said Paul Ruffin, the Texas poet laureate for 2009 and director of the Texas Review Press at Sam Houston State University. "I don't want to give up the book because it is an art."
