REGISTRATION FOR SPRING SEMESTER UNDERWAY

Registration for the 1996 Spring Semester at Sam Houston State University is underway.

The registration schedule includes: graduates, post graduates and seniors, Monday; juniors, Tuesday; sophomores, Wednesday; freshmen (M-Z), Thursday; freshmen (A-L), Friday; and all classifications Monday, Nov. 13.

Registration is by telephone and computer. Registration will open again Dec. 19 through Jan. 12, with late registration Jan. 15 and 16.

Dorms open Sunday, Jan. 10 and classes begin Monday, Jan 15. Spring break for students and faculty is March 18-22, with all offices closed March 21-22. Finals are May 3-8, with commencement at 10 a.m. Saturday May 11 in Johnson Coliseum.

MUSIC WEEK INCLUDES THREE EVENTS

The Sam Houston State University Music Department will have three events this week, beginning with a student cello recital featuring Sara Haberkamp on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.

James McLeland will perform a faculty violin recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the Woodwind Chamber Music concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

All events are in the Recital Hall, at 17th St. and Ave. J. Admissions is $5 for adults, with students admitted free.

MIXED MEDIA ON EXHIBIT

The SHSU Art Department is showing the mixed media works of Karen Crandall Simpson in the Gaddis Geeslin Gallery through Nov. 15.

Simpson, of Dallas, creates her imagery with objects such as book covers, pages from books, old photos, and objects found at flea markets, often connected with stitchery.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday, from noon until 5 p.m. Tours are available by contacting the art office at 294-1315.

VOLLEYBALL HEADS HOME SPORTS SCHEDULE

The Sam Houston State Ladykat volleyball team, ranked second in the Southland Conference for most of the season, will play their final three regular season games this week in Johnson Coliseum.

The Ladykats host Southwest Texas, North Texas, and UT-Arlington at 7 p.m. Nov. 7, 9, and 11.

The men's and women's basketball teams are preparing for their season openers, both at home in Johnson Coliseum. The women open at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 against the Slovakian National Team, with the men opening at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 against Conoco Oil.

MUSEUM SCHEDULES LEATHER WORK INSTRUCTION

The first of two Craft-a-Month sessions on leather working is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Sam Houston Memorial Museum. A similar session is also scheduled Nov. 19. For information, contact Lois Pierce at (409) 294-1832.
