FACULTY GALA TO FEATURE NEW VOCAL DUO

The Music Department's Faculty Gala will feature Robert and Julianne Best, John Paul, Patty Sue Davis and Frieda Gebert.

The program begins at 7:30 p.m.Tuesday in the Beto Criminal Justice Center's Killinger Auditorium. A reception will be held in Austin Hall after the concert, honoring Friends of Music donors.

"The program will begin with the best--make that plural--two Bests: Robert and Julianne," said Rod Cannon, acting chair of the Music Department. "This delightful couple has been welcomed to the voice faculty this fall. They are seasoned performers and will provide an exciting send-off for the evening's entertainment."

Paul will perform two Chopin Etudes, the instrumental faculty will team up with members of the keyboard faculty for several chamber works, and vocal performers who are familiar to the community and campus from past years will sing favorite arias.

Patty Davis, who retired from the vocal faculty in the spring, will return for Sondheim's "A Boy Like That" in collaboration with soprano Frieda Gebert.
