1996 FALL ENROLLMENT SHOWS INCREASE

Enrollment for the 1996 Fall Semester at Sam Houston State University is 12,564, an increase of 125 students over the 1995 Fall Semester.

The increase represents a turnaround from the previous three long semesters, in which enrollment was down slightly.

Dr. Bobby K. Marks, SHSU president, said that attracting and retaining students at Sam Houston State is a joint effort of faculty, staff, and community.

"Our recruiting staff works hard to sell students on Sam Houston State," he said. "But our best advertising is our reputation with current and past students concerning quality education, considerate staff members, and a supportive community."
