President Walesa will be in New Waverly, Texas, about 60 miles north of Houston, for a ceremony at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and presentations from the Polish-American community there, at approximately 4:40 p.m. Monday (today). This is slightly later than first announced.
There will be presentations on the steps of the old European-style church, which was built almost 100 years ago. There will be a brief ceremony inside, followed by remarks by President Walesa. The organizers of that event would be delighted with media attendance, and encourage photography outside and inside the church, but not during the religious service itself. They have reserved the choir loft area for media to attend the service inside.
On Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. there will be a news conference for President Walesa in the Killinger Auditorium of the Beto Criminal Justice Center. This is also the location for the presentation of the Sam Houston Humanitarian Award and President Walesa's speech. That ceremony begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday. There will be an audio feed available, courtesy of Craig Schlicher of the CJ Center.
Please call if you have questions on any of these activities. I hope to attend them all, if you have questions there.
