"Professor Bexley brings a unique background to the university, combining bank management and academia," according to R. Dean Lewis, dean of the College of Business Administration. Bexley most recently served as president and chief executive officer of Cardinal Bancorp, Inc. and First American National Bank of Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining Cardinal and First American, he served as president of the largest bank consulting firm in the nation, Banking Consultants of America.
Bexley's academic background includes over 20 years as a faculty member of the Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, along with a number of adjunct faculty positions at the University of Texas Pan American, Houston Community College and the University of Houston (Downtown).
He is the author of three professional books and many business and professional articles. His fourth book, which is soon to be published, is entitled "Directors' Duties and Responsibilities in Financial Institutions."
He is a frequent lecturer for banking and financial organizations such as the Independent Bankers Association of America, American Bankers Association, Independent Bankers Association of Texas, Texas Bankers Association, Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers, Pennsylvania Bankers Association, Tennessee Bankers Association, North Carolina Community Bankers, and Assemblies for Bank Directors.
Bexley's mission as holder of the Smith-Hutson Endowed Chair of Banking will be to provide students with an educational experience in the field of banking, perform research, and work with the banking community to improve the general well-being of community banks.
