PROMOTIONS, TENURE APPROVED

Sam Houston State University's board of regents approved promotions for 17 faculty members and granted tenure to 14 during its regular quarterly meeting Friday in Beaumont.

Those promoted and their new rank, all of which are effective in the 1997 fall semester, include:
J. Amanda Adkisson, to associate professor in general business and finance; Rick A. Bruhn, to professor in educational leadership and counseling; Rodney M. Cannon, to professor in music; Joan L. Coffey, to associate professor in history; Maryjo A. Cochran to professor in public communication; Cindy L. Gratz, to associate professor in theatre and dance;

Also, Martin L. Griffin, to associate professor in general business and finance; Joan E. N. Hudson, to associate professor in biological sciences; Joe F. James, to associate professor in general business and finance; William W. Johnson, to associate professor in criminal justice; Hollis Lowery-Moore, to professor in language, literacy and special populations; Paul M. Neunuebel, to professor in psychology and philosophy;

Also, Mary Ann Nolteriek, to professor in music; Gary D. Sousa, to professor in music; Alan D. Strong, to associate professor in music; Patrick J. VanFleet, to associate professor in mathematical and information sciences; and D. Christopher Wilson, to professor in psychology and philosophy.

Those granted tenure included:
Martin F. Amorous, II, associate professor/chair in art; Mary K. Borcherding, assistant professor in art; Judy C.
