To Distribute Questionnaires
In the next couple of weeks many Sam Houston State University employees, students, and former students will be receiving questionnaires from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Self-Study Steering Committee.
Some 1,000-1,500 students will be contacted through their academic departments. The most likely scenario is that the questionnaires will be handed out by professors.
In addition, all faculty, staff, and administrators will receive questionnaires, as well as 500-1,000 alumni.
The steering committee is also concerned that students who do not receive questionnaires but wish to fill one out can obtain one from the SACS self-study offices in AB3, Room 217.
The distribution of questionnaires will begin Feb. 16. The committee is asking that they be returned prior to spring break.
The questionnaires will be easy to understand and complete and will cost nothing to return. The selection and tabulation process will assure that respondents remain anonymous.
"The SACS committee is concerned that in order for this year-long process to be effective we will need a good return on these questionnaires, with truthful opinions," said James Goodwin, associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and self-study director.
"We want the process to result in improvements, and not just be something we do because we are required to," said Goodwin.
The committee also has a SACS Self-Study Web page that includes such information as the self-study plan and manual, committee memberships, and minutes of committee and sub-committee meetings.
Contact Goodwin at 294-3962 or 294-1672 for more information.
