Veteran International Performer
To Present Friday Concert

Violinist Luba Velickovic, who has studied and performed throughout the world, will present a recital Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall, 17th Street and Ave. J. He will be joined by David Fleming, pianist, and Tamara Raatz, clarinetist.

Velickovic initially studied in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, but has had teachers as well from Moscow, Japan and the United States. Performances as soloist and chamber player have taken him to Yugoslavia, France, German, Italy, Belgium, Ireland, Canada, South Africa and Japan.

Velickovic earned his doctorate in violin performance from the University of Texas, and presently serves as assistant professor in violin and coordinator of string studies at Sam Houston State.

In addition, he recently completed a compact disc recording entitled "Luba Velickovic: Alive and in Concert."

The first half of Friday evening's program will include Beethoven's "Sonata for Violin and Piano op. 30, no. 2" and "Carmen Fantasy" by Sarasate. After intermission he will perform "Trio for Clarinet, Violin and Piano," by Russian composer Aram Khachaturian.

Admission to the concert is free to students with identification and Friends of Music pass holders. Tickets at the door are $5. For more information, call 294-1360.
