NATIONAL COLLEGE REGISTRATION BOARD ADVISORYSam Houston State University is concerned about offering a quality educational experience at a reasonable cost. We believe that we have done this for 119 years, and plan to continue this approach to serving Texas students and their families. In line with this concern, we find it necessary to bring to your attention that Sam Houston State University is in no way affiliated with a debit card sales promotion called the "Campus Card," by an organization called the National College Registration Board. That organization has included in its sales literature a listing of colleges and universities, including Sam Houston State University, offering for $25 a "student identification card," and saying that the card "identifies you as an official member of your college community and should be carried at all times while on campus." The company has issued a "clarification" saying that their card "has no relationship with any campus or school ID program and is not required by any college or university." The company has also offered to refund any money paid by students who may have been misled. During the process of registering for classes each SHSU student is issued an official identification card, and there is no fee charged for this card.
