Area art connoisseurs won't have to travel to Hawaii, Ireland, or Mexico this summer for some world-class scenery, thanks to an exhibit in Sam Houston State University's Gaddis Geeslin Gallery.

The SHSU Department of Art is sponsoring an exhibit of 20 watercolors by Bruce McGrew, a well-known painter who now works as a professor of art at the University of Arizona at Tucson.

Martin Amorous, who chairs the SHSU Department of Art, said that McGrew has also done some interesting work on the Grand Canyon, and travels each summer to some scenic venue.

The exhibit runs from July 1 through July 31. The Geeslin Gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. daily, and by special arrangement. There is no admission fee. Call the Department of Art at (409) 294-1315 for information.
