Update 1/3/12: The alumni charter bus is now full. No plans are currently being made for a second bus.

The Sam Houston State University Alumni Association will show its support for the Bearkats at the NCAA Division I National Championship game on Jan. 7 by taking a group of football fans to Frisco for the event.

An association-sponsored charter bus to Pizza Hut Park will depart the Elliott T. Bowers Stadium parking lot at 6:30 a.m. and return immediately following the game.

“The SHSU Alumni Association wants to encourage as many fans to attend the game in Frisco on Jan. 7,” said Charlie Vienne, director for Alumni Relations. “We feel it is important to offer a charter bus to those alumni and friends who may not have the opportunity or ability to stay overnight.

“The Alumni Association supports the football team throughout the year, and this is a culmination of all their hard work and efforts,” he said. “We want to ensure everyone has an opportunity to support the Bearkats for the National Championship game.”

Kickoff is scheduled for noon and will be broadcast on ESPN2HD.

The cost for transportation is $40 per person, which does not include a game ticket. Tickets for the game are sold out.

Seating is limited, and reservations are requested by Jan. 4.

For more information or to reserve a seat, call the Office of Alumni Relations at 936.294.1841 or visit http://alumni.shsu.edu.
