Sam Houston State University is aware of several cases of fraud involving the illegal use of debit and credit cards in the Huntsville/Walker County area. Some of these cases have involved the Bearkat OneCards.
"While authorities have identified the source of the fraud, we believe that it is important for students to continue to monitor their financial checking accounts and report suspicious or fraudulent activities to the Sam Houston State University Police Department immediately at 936.294.1794," said Assistant Vice President for Student Services Kristy Vienne. "Several law enforcement agencies are currently involved with the investigation of the situation."
"Please take this opportunity to review your financial activities and ensure that you keep all your credit card and financial information secure," she said. "If you have additional questions or concerns regarding this matter or if you need assistance with reporting any fraudulent charges, please contact the Bearkat OneCard Office directly at 936.294.2273."
