New Registration Process To Launch April 1

When registration opens on April 1, students will utilize a new process to sign up for summer classes.

Made possible by joint efforts across campus, SHSU will replace many of the traditional legacy programs and systems used to perform administrative functions with the Banner student module.

“To access the registration system, all students will need to first login to the new My Sam portal,” said Jana Richie, enrollment management marketing coordinator. “Beginning April 1, the registration process will be through student self-service banner, accessed through MySam, instead of through SamWeb.”

The My Sam portal will become available to all students on March 28. It is currently open only to faculty, staff and on-campus student workers, who use the system to clock in and out for their timesheets.

Students interested in seeing the new registration process can attend one of four live demonstrations, which will be held on March 28, from 10-11 a.m. and from 3-4 p.m. and on March 30 from 10-11 a.m. and 3-4 p.m.

All four demonstrations will take place in College of Humanities and Social Sciences Building Room C070.

My Sam is the university’s new portal for on-campus information.

Through My Sam portal channels, students will be able to easily access a variety of resources, such as My Account, Financial Aid Requirements, Financial Aid Rewards, Registration Tools, Student Grades, and My Statement, according to Richie.

Registration for the summer 2011 term opens on April 1, and registration for the fall term opens on April 15.

With the implementation of a new registration system, the Registrar’s Office also has provided user help tools such as the “How to Register” page, at http://www.shsu.edu/~reg_www/howtoregister/.

Seating is limited for the live demonstrations and students are requested to sign up through the Human Resources Training website.
