Texas Chiropractic College and Sam Houston State University entered into an academic partnership, signing an articulation agreement on Dec. 13 at TCC’s campus in Pasadena.

This agreement led to the creation of the chiropractic early admission program as part of SHSU’s medical and allied health programs, and facilitates the admission and academic transfer of students from SHSU to TCC. This program ensures a seamless transition of students seeking to complete their Bachelor of Science degree from SHSU while at the same time pursuing a Doctor of Chiropractic degree through TCC. The agreement, which is effective immediately, will enable future and current SHSU students to complete both degrees in six years, with the first three occurring at SHSU and the final three at TCC.

"One of our goals at TCC is to build academic partnerships that are not only mutually beneficial to the institutions, but, more importantly, provide top-notch and cost effective educational opportunities to our students,” said Clay McDonald, TCC provost/senior vice president. “We are thrilled to formalize this agreement with our friends at Sam Houston State. We have already benefitted from having some of their students enroll in our program, and this partnership streamlines the process for our next group of Bearkats to enroll.”

“It’s two well-known institutions who now have the ability to work together synergistically to produce better students, both in terms of our students at Sam Houston State as well as at Texas Chiropractic College students,” said Jack C. Turner, director of MAHP. “It affords everybody a new opportunity to capitalize on the other’s talents. We look forward to having our students take advantage of opportunities presented here at Texas Chiropractic College.”
