Sam Houston State University will host its third annual “SHSU Night with the Houston Aeros” at Houston’s Toyota Center, inviting students, faculty, staff and alumni to join in on the fun on April 13.
The Houston Aeros will face off against the San Antonio Rampage starting at 7:05 p.m., and everyone is encouraged to show off their Bearkat pride at the event by wearing SHSU attire.
Students hit the ice before last year's "SHSU Night with the Houston Aeros" for a broomball game to gear them up for the main event, when the Aeros took on (and beat) the San Antonio Rampage. |
This year’s event will include a wide array of pre-game activities for Bearkats to participate in, beginning at 3:30 p.m. with a game of Broomball on the ice.
SHSU-themed activities and raffles will take place before and during the game, including contests, trivia, and promotional giveaways.
In addition, a live radio feed of the event will be available during the game and intermission, featuring interviews with SHSU President Dana Gibson and head football coach Willie Fritz on AM 1070, the official broadcast partner of the Houston Aeros.
Tickets may be purchased at two discounted price levels: $10 for end zone seating (normally $17) and $30 for club level seats (normally $45). The first 500 people in attendance will also receive an SHSU gift bag filled with a T-shirt commemorating the night as well as other giveaways.
Students who want to participate in the pre-game Broomball must wear fully-toed shoes and bring a signed waiver available on the event’s website. The sign-up deadline for the Broomball game is April 10, and students can find more details about the game here. Participants will receive a pregame meal, sponsored by Student Activities, from the Lake House Restaurant located at Discovery Green near Toyota Center.
Student organizations will be allowed display flags or banners during the game and should contact Sport Management graduate student Calli Wood at caw018@shsu.edu for details.
Tickets can be purchased online with one of the following codes: SAM, SHSU, KATS, HOUSTON or ICE.
