The first Huntsville Health Science Symposium, presented by the Sam Houston State University Office of Allied Health Programs, will take place Friday (April 26) from 1:30-5 p.m. in the Olson Auditorium of Academic Building IV on the SHSU campus.
In addition to SHSU, other participating organizations include Huntsville Memorial Hospital, Texas Department of Criminal Justice Health Services Division, and the Texas Department of State Health Services.
The symposium is open to the public.
“Our objective in hosting this event is to create opportunities for dialogue and collaboration between Sam Houston State University and members of the Huntsville regional health professional community around education, research and the advancement of practice,” said Michael Lacourse, dean of Allied Health Programs at SHSU.
The program will consist of presentations on such topics as health economics, health policy and disparities, public health, correctional healthcare, and other health-related topics, as well as opportunities for professional networking.
“The symposium will inform participants of the range of projects and resources available in the community and how they can be applied in their own teaching or healthcare practice,” Lacourse said.
