-9 Wins Faculty/Staff Golf Tournament
The team of Richard Cording, Terry Thibodeaux, Ron Randleman and Frank Krystyniak shot a 63 Monday to win the Sam Houston State University 5th Annual Faculty/Staff Golf Scramble at the Wedgewood Golf Club in Conroe.Two teams finished with identical 66s. A scorecard playoff gave 2nd place to the team of Ken Egger, Buddy Allen, Paul Gentry and Earl Carter over John Holder, John Lumley, Bobby Williams and Greg Priest.
Individual winners were Melanie Kercher (women's long drive), Bob Barragan (men's long drive) and Gary Oden (closest-to-the-pin).
A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament sponsored by the SHSU Department of Recreational Sports.
In addition to the team and individual awards, each participant won a door prize.
Tournament sponsors were Advantage Specialties, Big Dog Driving Range, Bullwinkle's, Cafe Texan, Casa Tomas, CASAD Company, Coca-Cola, G&O Barber Shop, Golden Corral, Hillcrest Ford, Huntsville Item, Huntsville Lanes, La Quinta Inn, Manna Bread Company, Mazzio's Pizza, Mr. Gatti's, Murski's, Nautilus Health Center, Parker House, Reebok, SHSU Outdoor Recreation, Sunflower Graphics, Tejas Cafe, Trophy Case, TuneUp Plus, University Cleaners, and Wedgewood.
