"All That Jazz!"

The scholarship gala is a fund raiser designed to provide scholarships for students in the Department of Theatre and Dance. It is the department's major fund raising event of the season.

The evening comes complete with live entertainment--"All That Jazz!" is a "Fosse-esque" look at the best works of the songwriting team of John Kander and Fred Ebb.

The show includes songs from such recent Broadway hits as Chicago, Cabaret, and Funny Lady, and exhibits some of SHSU's brightest talents. The revue begins at 6 p.m. and repeats at 9 p.m. in the Showcase Theatre.

In addition to the entertainment, there are backstage tours that give an intimate look behind the scenes. Patrons will be escorted by tour guides through the Green Room, the costume shop, the scene shop and the light loft for a complete view of the inner workings of the theatre.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the Mainstage, a silent auction will be held. Featured are unique items and opportunities generously donated by the community, such as original artwork, dance classes, children's birthday parties by Character Island, Ragtime tickets in New York City, or a one-week stay in a condominium anywhere in the world.

Accompanying the silent auction will be a variety of hors d'oeuvres prepared by the finest Huntsville restaurants.

Tickets are $50 per person, the proceeds of which are contributed directly into the scholarship fund for the Department of Theatre and Dance. To order tickets call the University Theatre Center at 409.294.1339.
