Barragan Receives Chamber Award
Bob Barragan, executive director of the Small Business Development Center at Sam Houston State University, has been named the recipient of the 1999 Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Service Award.The Chamber recognized Barragan as "a man who provides great service through his business, as well as community outreach through volunteering." It was also noted that the Small Business Development Center staff "has been recognized by some of their clients as 'heroes for small business'."
The Small Business Development Center serves eight counties, and in those counties 383 business startups have occurred since the opening of the Small Business Development Center in 1992. Barragan is an ex-officio member of the Chamber Board of Directors and has collaborated on a number of projects for the development of the community and its businesses.
