Residence Halls Association
Holds Southwestern U. S. Conference

Sam Houston State University's Residence Halls Association is hosting the annual conference of the Southwest Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (SWACURH) Thursday through Sunday (Nov. 11-14).

There are 526 pre-registered delegates from 26 schools throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. The delegates will be housed in area hotels.

The conference will begin with opening ceremonies Thursday evening, featuring a keynote address by Charles Capps, associate professor of management and marketing. On Friday and Saturday, 75 interest sessions will be offered in various locations across campus. From these, 10 will be selected as "Top Ten" programs and repeated on Saturday afternoon.

Friday night will feature "Roll Call" with each school presenting a humorous skit following the theme of the conference, "There's No Place Like SWACURH."

Hypnotist Andrew Becker will also perform on Friday night. A banquet will be held Saturday night, followed by a dance in the Lowman Student Center Ballroom. Delegates will depart Sunday morning.

All arrangements for the conference have been made by student volunteers. Co-chairs for the conference are Kristen Schaeffer and Noah Speigel. Evelyn "Scoobie" Woods, adviser to the Residence Halls Association, has served as adviser for the conference.
