Marks To Chair International Group

Dr. B. K. Marks, president of Sam Houston State University, has been named chairman of the board of directors of the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC).

TIEC is a private, non-profit corporation whose membership includes 32 public universities in Texas. The consortium was chartered under state law in1985, for the purpose of identifying, developing and conducting international education programs and activities on behalf of its affiliated universities. The TIEC corporate office is located in Austin and is staffed by more than 30 individuals.

The board of directors is comprised of the presidents of each affiliated university. The universities include members of the Association of American Universities, the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges, and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. All are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

TIEC develops and delivers a broad array of international education consulting services, cooperative academic programs, faculty exchanges, specialized training, and intensive English language instruction throughout the world. TIEC has conducted international development projects in almost every region of the world including Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean.
