Faculty 25 Year Award Winners
Five members of the Sam Houston State University faculty were presented 25-year service awards Sept. 19 at a faculty/staff meeting in the Beto Criminal Justice Center Killinger Auditorium. Receiving plaques were, from left, Brenda Lichtman, kinesiology; Henry Howey, music; David Bailey, sociology; and James Miller, theatre/dance. Not present was Bob Vaden-Goad, mathematics.

Winners of the 2000-2001 Staff Excellence Awards at Sam Houston State University were introduced and presented plaques. They were, from left, Janet McCullough, kinesiology; Karen Beeson, biological sciences, and Dianne Key, academic affairs.

25 Year Staff Service Award Winners

Staff 25 Year Award Winners
Two Sam Houston State University staff members completed their 25th year of service this past year, and were presented plaques. They are Patty Mabry, left, financial aid; and Verdell English, custodial services.

Distinguished Professor

Friel and Payne
Charles Friel, left, who has taught at Sam Houston State University since 1967 and from1986-'91 served as director of the Criminal Justice Center and dean of the College of Criminal Justice, recently became the university's third active distinguished professor, joining James Olson (history) and Rolando del Carmen (criminal justice). Friel was presented a tray in recognition of that honor, and was congratulated by David Payne, vice president for academic affairs.
