"Because of the recent heavy rains, the area at Gibbs Ranch where parking and booths would have been set up is still under standing water," said Mrs. Gaertner. "We will be looking forward to next year's carnival." There are a number of Halloween events on campus or in the Huntsville community, however. The Residence Hall Association at Sam Houston State University is sponsoring its annual Trick or Treat Program Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 5:30 p.m. Parents should bring their children (up to 10 years of age) to the parking lot at 20th St. and Ave. J between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m. Parents are asked to remain with their children as group leaders and guide them around campus for some fun and safe Halloween activities in the residence halls. For more information, contact Missy at 936.294.1818. Carriage Inn Retirement Community will open its doors for trick or treating at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Refreshments will be served and door prizes given. For information call 936.295.0600. The Walker County Fair Association will hold its annual Halloween Carnival Thursday, Oct. 31, 5 - 10 p.m., at the fairgrounds. There will be no gate admission. The main building area and the midway area will have games and activities. Food and drinks will be available on the patio. A costume contest will be held at 8 p.m. on the midway stage. Prizes, candy, and fun for the entire family will be provided. The Kappa Alpha famous haunted house will also be at the fairgrounds Thursday, Oct. 31, 5 - 10 p.m. Adults $4 and children $2. There will also be trick or treating in Huntsville on the square on Thursday, Oct. 31, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at each merchant. For more details call KSAM at 936.295.4102.
