Parking Permits On Sale Friday
Sam Houston State University parking stickers
for the coming academic year go on sale Friday, and despite the fact that
they will cost more, faculty, staff, and students will get less bang for
the buck.
The "less bang" is expected to come from fewer potholes and rough areas,
as lots are being put on a rotating maintenance schedule.
All parking permits will increase $15 for the coming year, to $50 for faculty/staff
and $45 for students. Alternate faculty/staff permits are $40 and alternate
student permits $35.
University police officials said that the additional revenues will be needed
to continue a parking upgrade process that has provided more than 700 new
spaces as well as the improved surfaces.
University police officials advise those seeking permits to remember to
bring their SHSU ID and know the license plate number, year and make of their
vehicle(s).
They will also allow departments to send one person with group orders if
they choose, as long as they have the ID, payment, and vehicle information
for each employee. Group orders will be processed as time permits.
They also caution that any outstanding parking tickets must be resolved
before a new permit will be issued.
Anyone interested in reserving a space in the new parking garage, which
is expected to be available for contract parking when classes begin Aug.
20, should contact Col. Dennis Culak at extension 41793.
There will be 100 contract parking spaces available, which will be issued
on a first come, first served basis. The contract rate is $400, which includes
the fall and spring semesters.
For other questions, call extensions 41789, 41790 or 41795.
