Regents Approve Promotions, Tenure
Eighteen Sam Houston State University faculty
members received promotions and nine were awarded tenure Friday by the university's
board of regents.
Those promoted included Elsie Ameen, to associate professor in accounting;
Mary Conroy, to professor in psychology and philosophy; Douglas Constance,
to associate professor in sociology; Barbara Corbin, to professor in music;
Donna Desforges, to professor in psychology and philosophy, and John Domino,
to professor in political science.
Also, Alice Fisher, to associate professor in educational leadership and
counseling; Cindy Gratz, to professor in theatre and dance; Penelope Hasekoester,
to associate professor in theatre and dance; Kathy Hill, to associate professor
in general business and finance; and William Johnson, to professor in criminal
justice.
Also, Frieda Koeninger, to associate professor in English and foreign languages;
Lynn McMain, to assistant professor in the Gresham Library; Sharon Morphew,
to associate professor in English and foreign languages; Janet Mullings,
to associate professor in criminal justice; Jeffrey Strawser, to associate
professor in accounting; Kandi Tayebi, to associate professor in English
and foreign languages; and Jianzhong Wang, to professor in mathematics and
statistics.
Conroy, Constance, Morphew and Mullings also received tenure.
Others receiving tenure were James Bexley, general business and finance;
Theodore Creighton, educational leadership and counseling; William Edgington,
curriculum and instruction, Timothy McGuire, computer science; and Jeffrey
Strawser, accounting.
