Merchant Honored As Distinguished Professor Emeritus

Provost and vice president for
academic affairs David Payne (left) presented a resolution
to Jimmy Merchant from the Texas State University System
Board of Regents honoring him as a distinguished professor
emeritus in educational administration at SHSU. The resolution
recognizes a lifetime of achievement and service in higher
education, and Merchant is the first at SHSU to ever receive
the distinction, according to Payne. Before coming to
SHSU, Merchant was a principal and elementary school teacher,
as well as a teacher at one other university.
