Cadet Patrick Conner gets pinned
by his parents during the second summer Bearkat Battalion
Commissioning Ceremony on Friday. Conner, who served
as the spring 2004 cadet battalion commander, has been
selected for active duty following graduation on Saturday
and will attend the Armor Officer Basic Course at Ft.
Knox, Ky., in the fall. Also commissioned at the ceremony
were Elliott Bo Burns, who will serve his first duty
assignment at Fort Hood, Texas, before reporting to
the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, Ga,.
in October, and Breg Hughes, who will also attend the
Infantry Officer Basic Course in October. This past
academic year, the military science department commissioned
13 cadets as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, a
record that hasn't been met since 1995.
