Stuckey Named Alumni Director
|
As the new director of Alumni Relations, Scott Stuckey hopes
to “increase membership, continue to have great visibility
both on and off campus and to reach out to lost alumni.
“It’s (Sam Houston State is) a great university,
and it’s a great opportunity for me to make a difference
at the university,” he said.
Stuckey will begin his duties in the Alumni Relations office
on July 16.
“I am delighted with the appointment of Mr. Scott Stuckey,
who was the clear choice to become our alumni director,”
vice president for University Advancement Frank Holmes said.
“He has a strong set of professional knowledge and skills
as well the ability to work effectively with Sam Houston State
alumni.
“Mr. Stuckey is the right person to build on the Alumni
Association's progress of the past two years,” he said.
The native Houstonian received his Bachelor of Business Administration
degree in finance from Texas A&M University in 1994 and
his Master of Business Administration from the University
of Houston Clear Lake in 2002.
As director of development for The Fay School in Houston,
Stuckey coordinated a school-wide capital campaign to design
and build a 30,000 square foot elementary building; solicited
and acknowledged all major gifts, including Annual Fund gifts;
served as administrator for all special events; and coordinated
all school advertising and public relations.
The Fay School is a small, private school for 3 year olds
to fifth graders in the Galleria area, with an approximate
enrollment of 280.
Previously, he has also served as assistant director for the
Office of Advancement and External Affairs at Texas A&M
International University in Laredo, where he was responsible
for assisting with fund raising and donor relations; creating
and implementing the first university annual fund; and developing
a Razors Edge database. He also served as a university liaison
with the university’s alumni association.
“I think my past jobs have given me the experience and
knowledge that is necessary to do a good job (as alumni director),”
Stuckey said. “I think it’s a great fit.”
As alumni director, Stuckey said he is looking forward to
working with and meeting all of the people associated with
the university, both internally and externally.
“The people I have met on the selection committee, as
well as in the advancement office have really blown me away
about how nice and sincere they are,” he said. “I’m
really looking forward to working with them.”
Stuckey was selected from almost 30 applicants for the position
by a search committee comprised of alumni association board
members and university faculty and staff. The committee was
chaired by College of Business Administration dean R. Dean
Lewis.
