SHSU Announces Raven Nest Rates

If you're a golfer, it pays to be a Bearkat these days, especially
if you're an ID-carrying student or membership card-carrying
alum.
Rates for the university's Raven Nest golf course, effective
Sept. 1, have been announced, giving students the opportunity
to play an 18-hole round for $5 on weekdays, $8 on weekends
and holidays.
Rates for 18-holes for the general public, by comparison,
are $14/$24 for 18-holes. SHSU faculty, staff and paid alumni
can play for $8/$13. Cart fees are an additional $12 per 18-holes
per player.
"As far as the rate structure, our goal is to give an
excellent value to the different segments of our community
and to make sure that SHSU students can play the golf course
for a very minimal fee," said Rich Ballinger, who heads
SHSU's PGA Professional Golf Management Program, and is overseeing
the course operations.
Ballinger also emphasized that the Raven Nest course is of
exceptional quality and one of the finest operated by a university.
"I believe one will be hard pressed to find a better
value than Raven Nest Golf Club," said Ballinger. "In
other markets, the quality of the layout and course conditions
could yield two and three times the rate we are charging."
