Two-Person Show To Perform ‘Nina Variations’
The SHSU department of theatre and dance will present “The
Nina Variations,” by Steven Dietz, Wednesday and Thursday
(July 6-7), at 8 p.m. both days in the University Theatre
Center’s Showcase Theatre.
Loosely based on Anton Chekhov’s “The Seagull,” the
play explores the relationship between Treplev and Nina,
who, after being apart for two years, receive a blank slate
with which to possibly rekindle their relationship.
In more than 40 variations, the two attempt to salvage the
remains of their lives together, with each variation providing
an opportunity to see all that love has to offer.
The two-person show is directed by senior theatre major Cadien
Dumas, and the cast includes senior theatre major James Arrington
as Treplev and junior musical theatre major Grace Marie Walton
as Nina.
Student Richard Chamblin and Scott McCarrey designed the
lights and sound respectively.
Tickets are $5 for general admission, and children under
three will not be permitted, as the show contains adult content.
