Almost $8,000 was raised for the McKenna Perkins’ Educational
Scholarship fund during the inaugural Brad Perkins Memorial
Golf Tournament on June 30.
The winning team of Danny Becker, Charles Goodwin, Al Goodwin
and Darrel Allen will have their names engraved on a custom-made,
traveling award, donated by the SHSU Physical Plant.
Brad Perkins was an employee in the Physical Plant electrical
division and was diagnosed in February 2006 with matastic
melanoma.
He passed away in April 2006, and the Physical Plant staff
set up the fundraiser to honor Brad and plan for his daughter's
future education.
“I send a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who
made this event possible and successful,” said Christa
Ashworth-Perkins, Brad’s wife. “It's wonderful
for Brad to be honored in this special way and McKenna's education
has been planned for by the kindness and generosity of all
those who participated.”
