Service Set for Bryan Clifton McHenry
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel
of the Sam
Houston Memorial Funeral Home for Bryan Clifton McHenry.
Memorial condolences may be made online.
McHenry, a lecturer in the English department at Sam Houston
State University, was found in his office about 9 p.m. Monday,
unconscious and not breathing. He was pronounced dead at 10:17
p.m. by Justice of the Peace James Mature.
Kevin Morris, assistant director of the SHSU campus police department,
said that officer Alan Plunkett went to the Evans Building and
found McHenry after he was summoned by a custodial worker.
Morris said that an "unattended death" investigation
is being conducted, but foul play is not suspected.
An autopsy was ordered by Judge Mature and is being conducted
by the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office.
McHenry, 52, was from Wyoming. He first came to Sam Houston
State as a student in 1973, earned his bachelor's degree in criminal
justice in 1996, and his master's in English in 1998. He was
a full time teacher in the Conroe school district, and taught
two evening classes at SHSU.
