New Appointments To Help With SHSU Research Efforts
Two Sam Houston State University administrators have been appointed to new positions to provide stronger support for faculty research, as the university seeks to devote more attention to research agendas.

Gordon Plishker will be the associate vice president of technology and scientific research, and Richard Ward will be the associate vice president of research and sponsored programs.
The appointments were made by David Payne, provost and vice president for academic affairs, and are effective May 17.

"The appointments will help in enhancing Sam Houston State's focus on scientific research and will give faculty broader access to sponsored and training programs," said Payne.
"Dr. Plishker has been very successful in developing the university's concentrated effort on scientific research. Dr. Ward brings broad experience in obtaining federal and state funds in a wide variety of disciplines," he added.
Plishker's most recent service at the university has been as associate vice president of research and sponsored programs. He has been employed at Sam Houston State since 1992.
Ward has served as the dean of the college of criminal justice and director of the criminal justice center since 1999.
