Annual Employee Fund Campaign Reaches New Heights
|
The College of Education reached 100 percent
participation and raised the most money during the campaign.
Representatives included, from left, Debbie Allen, Sherry
Hirsch, Beverly Irby, Mark Gaus, Susan Hayes, Randi Clower,
Janie Joyce and Rosanne Keathley. |
Three out of every five Sam Houston State University employees
have already participated in the Faculty and Staff Annual Fund
Drive, and the rate could go even higher.
|
Faculty/Staff Annual Fund leaders included,
from left, James Bexley (chairman), Rosanne Keathley and
Joey Chandler (co-chairs), and Cindy Truax, campaign coordinator.
Chandler received a plaque for her service as staff chair
for the past three years. |
That was the
number announced last week at a luncheon for volunteers and honorees
that wrapped up the volunteer phase of the campaign. Employees
can continue to give throughout the year.
Jim Gaertner,
SHSU president, thanked those who worked and emphasized how important
the effort is to the university's overall fund-raising effort.
"A few
years ago sixty percent participation would have been unthinkable," he
said, and called it a "remarkable accomplishment." It
is important, he said, because others who are asked to give will
know that employees also give beyond their everyday work responsibilities.
Cindy Truax,
director of annual giving,
served as the campaign coordinator. James Bexley was the campaign
chair, assisted by co-chairs Rosanne Keathley and Joey Chandler.
|
The President's Office, represented by Jim Gaertner and
Kathy Gilcrease, was one of five divisions with 100 percent
participation. |
Bexley announced
that more than 900 employees have contributed so far, as opposed
to 785 last year. Last year's participation at this stage was
52.5 percent.
Bexley also
announced that the number of employees on payroll deduction grew
from 151 to 207, with an average of $4,500 in monthly giving.
As of the volunteer campaign close, the total raised was $147,000.
While four
university divisions had 100 percent participation last year,
five reached that level this year. They include Student Services,
Enrollment Management, Office of the President, University Advancement,
and College of Education.
In addition
to becoming the first college to ever reach 100 percent, Education
also raised the highest amount during the campaign--$56,610.
This year's
volunteer committee included Cindy Allbright, Debbie Allen, Donna
Artho, Mike Bankhead, Rosanne Barker, Vicki Barrilleaux, Walter
Bennett, Cynthia Bennett, Debbie Birdwell, Amanda Burris, Ty
Cashion, Jacob Chandler, Randi Clower, Dennis Culak, Donna Desforges,
Marsha Dickens, Margo Frasier, Mark Gaus, Cutty Gilbert and
Kathy Gilcrease.
|
Student Services also had 100 percent participation.
Their representatives were, from left, Donna Artho, Leah
Mulligan, Cindy Allbright and Frank Parker. |
Also, Marcus
Gillespie, Bill Green, Phillip Hamilton, Chad Hargrave, Susan
Hayes, Sherry Henke, Denise Henry, Sherry Hirsch, Jim Hynes,
