Series To Bring Love To SHSU

Pat Love will discuss relationships with both the SHSU
and Huntsville communities on July 27 and 28 as part of
a faculty lecture series. |
Distinguished professor, author and certified love educator
Pat Love will share her expertise on relationships on July
27 and July 28.
The discussion, part of the educational leadership and counseling
department’s distinguished faculty speaker series, will
be held from noon to 1:45 p.m. on Friday and from 10:30 a.m.
to noon on Saturday. Both lectures will be held in the Smith-Hutson
Building’s Business Auditorium, located in room 186.
On Friday, Love will discuss “New Brain Science”
and its impact on relationships and her newest book, “How
to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It,”
which was published this year, on Saturday.
For 25 years, Love has contributed to relationship education
and personal development through her books, articles, training
programs, speaking and media appearances, around the world,
including numerous appearances on “Oprah,” “The
Today Show” and CNN.
A licensed marriage and family therapist, Love has also authored
“Hot Monogamy” and “The Truth About Love”
and is a regular contributor to such popular magazines as
Cosmopolitan, Men's Health, Good Housekeeping, Men's Magazine
and Woman's World.
In addition, Love has co-hosted three DVD training programs:
“Love: Everything You Need to Know,” “Living
Love” and “Parenting with the Experts.”
She is faculty emeritus at Imago Institute for Relationship
Therapy and is a recipient of the Smart Marriages Impact Award.
Love received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from
Fairmont State College in Fairmont, W.Va., and both her doctorate
in counselor education and master’s degree in counseling
from West Virginia University.
SHSU’s Barnes and Noble University Bookstore will have
Love’s books available to purchase, which she will autograph,
on both days.
Both events are open to the SHSU community at no cost. The
Saturday lecture is also open to the Huntsville community
and the general public for a $25 fee, which benefits the educational
leadership and counseling department’s graduate student
organization. Participants will receive 1.5 continuing education
units.
