Burton is 9th in BarrelsCeslie Burton, Sam Houston State University junior from Trinity, was in 9th place in the Barrel Racing event at the National College Finals Rodeo going into Friday evening's next-to-last round of competition.Burton completed her three runs in a total of 37.9 seconds, and now must wait for the Friday evening competition to see if her time is among the top 12 that will compete Saturday evening for the championship and final ranking. Teammate Ginger Brigance, whose first round run was good for 6th on the first night of competition, will race Friday evening. Trey Fisher, who turned in one of the top bareback bronc rides on Wednesday evening, will also perform Friday. Delana Collins (barrel racing), senior from Tomball, and Stephanie Cook (break-away roping), sophomore from Crockett, wrapped up their preliminary action and did not make the finals. Sam Houston State's women's team, champions of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association's Southwestern Region, was not among the top eight women's teams after Thursday's competition.
